We’re heading on the road again…we just can’t stop. We’re totally hooked. Why? Others have said it better in the past…
“I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”
-Robert Frost, The Road Not Taken
The traveler sees what he sees. The tourist sees what he has come to see.
A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.
So you set out to travel to Rome… and end up in Istanbul. You set off for Japan… and you end up on a train across Siberia. The journey, not the destination, becomes a source of wonder.
For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel’s sake. The great affair is to move…
-Robert Louis Stevenson
“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail” –
Ralph Waldo Emerson
“Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind.”
“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.”
– Lao Tzu
The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.
It is not down in any map; true places never are.
To read some of the places we’ve traveled to with our whole crew, check out our Travel Tales category. There are probably 20 posts there that are full of great information on the destinations we visited, but also family travel in general!
Thanks to Julia for hosting Hooked on Fridays at Hooked on Houses!
We’ll check in from the road!
